Once injected into the skin, Botox paralyses the muscles in the treated areas. These muscles relax and no longer contract resulting in smoother skin and a younger-looking face.

The contra-indications are:
* pregnancy
* history of hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin A
* myasthenia gravis
* Lambert-Eaton syndrome
* a recent treatment or intake of aspirin
* aminoglycosides antibiotic medication (Amiklin, Gentalline, Streptomycine, etc.)
* recent anticoagulant medication
* recent anti-inflammatory medication
Light redness around the injection areas, which subsides within 3 to 4 hours
